Artwork

2D

Project 1

Caution coils into wire, labor stands still, shaped like a word.

3D

Mushtown

Mushtown is about how identity and self-protection are never fixed — always weathered, damaged, and repositioned, yet still standing. It suggests that imperfection isn't something to overcome but something carried openly, sometimes concealed, but never erased.

Video

Lost

Lost explores the parallel cycles of plant life and human searching — intercutting footage of plants growing, blooming, and decaying with a figure adrift in uncertain spaces. Set to Debussy's Rêverie, L. 68, the piece holds both threads in a quiet, unresolved state of being lost, suggesting that searching and growing are, in the end, the same motion.

About

I'm Jiayi Jiang, a visual artist and photography student based in Los Angeles, currently pursuing my degree at Santa Monica College with a focus on photography and digital media.

My work moves between photography, 3D modeling, and video, but the throughline is always the same: I'm drawn to what gets overlooked. What People Throw Away, my ongoing documentary project, follows discarded objects around LA, asking what they reveal about the people and systems that left them behind. That same curiosity about decay, nature, and forgotten things shows up across my other work too, from Blender sculptures to compositing experiments in Photoshop.

I'm always open to collaborations, internships, and new creative conversations, feel free to reach out at nir707ey@gmail.com
